Hi Friends and Family, My Dad, Charles M Cottle or lovingly known as Charlie, was diagnosed with Dementia in 2010. He was the kindest man I have ever known. He was fun and sang all the time! He could fix anything and saved everything “just in case”. He was a US Marine during the Korean War. He was fiercely patriotic and cried every time the Star Spangled Banner played. He was a loving son to his mama and the best husband, father, brother in law, uncle and grandfather. He was one of our first computer programmers and an avid motorcycle rider. He loved playing the multiple instruments he played and going to the mountains. He did not deserve to go through this terrible disease...no one does. I would visit him in the facility we had to put him in when Mom could no longer take care of him and when you look at all of the brilliant minds that are there...it is truly devasting. Every visit was painful as we watched him slip away and no longer be the person he was. No more advice. No more laughs and hugs. And the toll it took on my Mom....I know that’s why she lost her battle with cancer. She was so tired. 1 in 3 seniors will get some form of Dementia. We have to find a way to beat this! There is no cure. There are no survivors. Please help me support Alzheimer's Orange County by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Or join my team: Team Charlie and walk where you are with us on 11/14! Every dollar I raise will advance Alzheimer's Orange County's great cause! Additionally, you can ask me how you can get involved too.
