Why I’m Walking.......... Before becoming a licensed fiduciary, I served as my mother’s conservator as she faced progressive dementia. Although her exact diagnosis was never definitively confirmed, the cognitive decline was undeniable and life-altering. I witnessed firsthand how impaired capacity affects every aspect of life: healthcare decisions, financial management, personal safety, and ultimately, dignity. Families are often unprepared for how quickly circumstances can shift, even with thoughtful planning in place. That experience continues to shape how I serve clients today. As fiduciaries and advisors, we stand at the intersection of protection and vulnerability. Supporting dementia research and caregiver resources is not only personal for me. It aligns with our professional responsibility to safeguard those who can no longer advocate fully for themselves. I am walking in her honor and for the families navigating this journey now. If you feel moved to support this cause, I would be deeply grateful.
