I am participating in the Walk4ALZ 2026 for the second year in support of my Mom, Linda, who has had this disease for the past 8+ years and has been bed-ridden for nearly a year and a half . This disease is a challenging journey that slowly takes away a person's memory, capability to do everyday activities, their personality, their ability to speak and walk, and eventually their lives. That is why Alzheimers is referred to as the "Long Goodbye". You are saying goodbye to aspects of who they are a little at a time until they become an empty shell of who they have always been. There is no cure and no long term treatment that changes the outcome at this time. I am also raising money and awareness for all the other patients, families, and caregivers dealing with this horrible disease.
